Description

Rotan draws on two traditional crafts, by weaving the basket-making material rattan in a textile technique called double fabric. The play of light over its woven layers make Rotan a canvas for the natural beauty of its material and emphasise its plasticity. It  is 100% biodegradable, easy to repair and can be made in large sizes. Moreover, Rotan could easily be manufactured by local rattan farmers in Indonesia and help replace the income they have lost through the government’s export ban for raw rattan.
