Description

The material study is exploring new application methods within the stone glazing of ceramics by working among the unique features of volcanic scoria. The low melting point of scoria allows the use of solid rock pieces instead of crushed material bound in liquid. The resulting glaze layer is significantly thicker than usual, forming another kind of matter on top of the ceramic carrier. Those unique material features offer a whole new range of possible application methods between the two materials.
