Description

The aim of the project is to develop an innovative porcelain structure through foaming. The generation of air in ceramic masses was tested in several series of experiments and, based on the results, it was decided to add a blowing agent. In addition to the impressive bubble structure, the material is characterised by its glazing abilities. Its self-sealing properties during firing mean that the production process can be reduced by several steps. The designed tile at hand shows one example for application. During the process, the porcelain foam is applied to the tile blank to create an individual gradient. While the tile is advanced in its design, the porcelain foam is still in its infancy and offers great potential for further development.
