Description

Bio cement is made using bacteria to bind together recycled bricks with calcium carbonate. The process neither requires firing nor emits CO2. Using bio fabrication and 3D printing, innovative forms of the material can be created. In the project, the key functional and aesthetic potentials of Biocement were investigated and used to design a piece of seating furniture. The chair, consisting of three individually manufactured profiles, was created to make research more accessible through design.
