Karianne Fogelberg has been research fellow for design and architecture theory at the cx centre for interdisciplinary studies at the Academy of Fine Arts Munich since 2012. In her work, she researches the current expansion of the notion of design, taking into account current theoretical debates including those from social sciences and political theory, and conceives events on the subject, such as the format Undesign which takes the critical potential of design as point of departure (together with Sarah Dorkenwald). Her contributions have appeared internationally in design magazines, amongst others in étapes and Frame, as well as in academic publications such as The Present of the Future (Eds. Susanne Witzgall, Kerstin Stakemeier, diaphanes, 2017). Until 2007 she worked as editor of the periodical form. Fogelberg has a BA in European Studies from King’s College London and the London School of Economics, as well as an MA in History of Design and Material Culture from the Royal College of Art / Victoria & Albert Museum in London.

Filippo Lodi holds several master degrees in engineering, architecture, art and business, making him an all-around thinker. Filippo, as Head of Innovation and Knowledge Management, leads UNSKnowledge, UNStudio’s strategic think tank, where he works on the development of disruptive technologies for the built environment from a unique coating that cools down buildings, forest-based bio-composites for facades and interior partitions – as well as providing consulting services to companies on their workflow and rebranding strategies.

Maurizio Montalti has been one of the early pioneers committed to studying and to developing a wide range of mycelium-based technologies, for the production of natural biomaterials and products. Starting growing materials as part of his Amsterdam-based creative practice and consultancy, Officina Corpuscoli (NL) and working at the junction of design and biotech, he later co-founded Mogu (IT), an innovation-driven, environmentally-conscious company, dedicated to designing, standardising and commercialising different typologies of high-performance biomaterials and finished products deriving from fungi.

Melusine Reimers, managing director and co-founder of Readymade, is committed to the postal growth company and is testing alternative concepts to the previous ownership model with her start-up for furniture sharing. Readymade makes it possible to rent furniture for a limited period of time. After it has been returned and subsequently re-let, it is processed as part of a permanent usage cycle. If you want to keep the piece of furniture, you can purchase it afterwards. For Readymade, sustainability is a question of resources, but it is also a question of consumption.

Textile and surface designer and co-founder of the design studio Blond & Bieber Essi Johanna Glomb works in the interdisciplinary futureTEX research project Textile Prototyping Lab at the weißensee kunsthochschule berlin. She represents a new understanding of design that shifts the focus from product development to process, concept and research. In her own creative work, for which she was nominated as a Newcomer Finalist at the German Design Awards 2019, she combines insights from design and materials research with traditional craftsmanship to create an exciting synthesis.
