Who can take part?

one&twenty is the competition for design students and graduates who have graduated no more than three years ago at the time of registration. Both individual and group registrations of up to three people are possible, whereby all group members must meet the above conditions.

What kind of works can be entered?

Products can be submitted in the categories Interior Design, Lifestyle, Eco Design, Social Design & Medical and Rehabilitation, Materials and Textiles, Techniques and Processes for Design, Public Design and Digitally Supported Design. The works should not be older than one year and not yet available on the market. In case of an award, a 1:1 model/prototype must be available.

How are entries submitted?

Submission to the competition is done by uploading a maximum of 5 high-resolution images in the MyDesignCouncil system. The images should show the product in an optimal way.

Which criteria will be assessed?

From all submissions, the jury selects a shortlist, which is presented in our online gallery. From the shortlist, in the second step 20 products will be awarded the Winner label and one product the "Best of Best" label. The submitted works will be evaluated according to the following criteria, whereby the jury reserves the right to weight them: Conceptual quality, design quality, technical and formal independence, development potential, degree of innovation, symbolic and emotional content.

Advantages & Benefits

The winners also benefit from comprehensive marketing measures and the international network of the German Design Council. The German Design Council presents the 21 outstanding newcomers and their work to the international design scene and relevant business contacts.
