Concept and prototype for modular façade greening

Description

GREEN SHADE is a concept for retrofittable and cost-effective facade greening that can be realised without complex integration into the facade. Instead, it utilises existing structures and reinvents them. As a combination of sliding shutters and vertical greenery, it reduces the rise in temperature in cities and at the same time offers residents the option of shading their windows. Three different versions of GREEN SHADE can be planted individually and adapted to the respective needs: maximum shading through dense greenery of climbing plants, cultivation of vegetables and fruit or creation of colourful flower landscapes as a much-needed habitat for insects and birds.
